After having been missing for ~65 years, an old copy of the Genji manuscript was found. it had been given to the Osawa family by Hideoyoshi and is considered something of a national cultural asset. now i want to hunt down a 2000円 bill.

Apple Store

Went to the Apple Store in Ginza on Friday. They have this really cool video screen next to the elevator entrance on all the floors that gives you an overview of what’s on each floor. Found a video of it on YouTube so you can check it our for yourselves.

New 7-series

The new BMW 7 series looks a bit pedestrian ne? Or rather too much like a Lexus of some sort. Too upright to my tastes. I’m still partial to the more low slung and powerful look of the E38 or even E65 (though everyone seemed to hate that one.) But who am I to talk, I’m an E30 guy :P

Clouds over Tokyo

I stood for some time watching the clouds move across the sky. Those in the foreground moved with great speed, while in the distance, they were still. The sun colored the closer ones a mixture of gold, pink and orange. It appeared that the city abruptly ended some place not so far away. As if there were some sheer drop off; the end of the earth. Everything ended but the clouds.

Gen. Clark is Right

General Wesley Clark was right when he said “I don’t think riding in a fighter plane and getting shot down is a qualification to be president.” I’m glad that someone finally had the balls to say it on national TV. But now all the neocon trash and their sympathizers are acting as if General Clark belittled or insulted McCain’s service, which is absolute bullshit. What he said is the simple truth; being a war veteran or a POW does not mean that you know how to run a country. McCain sympathizers should be happy about this fact, for if it did qualify one to be president, John Kerry would have been elected in 2004.

Recent little thoughts that popped into my head:

The Japanese don’t actually like music; instead they use it as a way to form a self image, as something to define themselves by.

I wonder if the designs of pubs and restaurants etc. in certain areas of the world are that way because that culture likes it that way, or because that’s just the way it has been traditionally. Think about the interior design of your average British pub Izakaya for instance.
